My name is Carly Burkhardt and I am so blessed and honored to serve as the Alpha Phi Nu Chapter President.  I am surrounded by some of the most inspiring, passionate, and strong women I have ever met, and I am excited to welcome you to our website.  I hope this gives you a little peek into our lives and a glimpse as to why Alpha Phi is so special to all of us. The Alpha Phi Nu Chapter women embody the six values that our sorority was founded upon: sisterhood, service, scholarship, loyalty, leadership, and character development, and we strive to live out these values everyday on the University of Nebraska campus and within the community.

In Alpha Phi, I have always been encouraged to be my authentic self; I’ve never worried about not being accepted for who I am, and I feel so comfortable with who I have become; these women have pushed me to be the best version of myself. On campus, you will find Alpha Phis involved just about anywhere.  Whether that is with Husker Athletics and Spirit Squad, ASUN Student Government, Dance Marathon, campus ministries, or pre-professional clubs, Alpha Phis are driven and committed leaders on campus.

Within the community Alpha Phi actively participates in the Heart Walk, The Big Event, Red Dress Dash, the Miss Amazing Pageant, and many other community service projects and events. Our primary focus is raising money for Women’s Cardiac Care, a cause we strive to give of ourselves selflessly. We are consistently in the top tier of GPAs on campus and have members involved in several honors organizations.  We strive to be as well rounded as possible, and we are always seeking new opportunities for growth.

Alpha Phi has helped mold me into the strong, confident woman I am today.  I am so fortunate for all of the opportunities Alpha Phi has brought me, and I am eternally grateful for the relationships it has given me.  If you would have told my 18-year-old-self that friendships this genuine and strong were possible, I would have thought you were crazy.  Now, I am reminded every day just how good life can be.  Whether it’s piling into a car and driving around Lincoln at midnight trying to find food or coming home to an encouraging note and smiling face after a long day, I know I can rely on my sisters for anything.  The laughs we’ve shared, memories we’ve made, and heartaches we’ve comforted will always hold a special place in my heart.  I could not have picked a better group of 170 women to surround myself with, and I feel so blessed to have been influenced by each one of them. These are the women you want to surround yourself with, and I am so happy I have.

Being an Alpha Phi has made my college experience everything I could have dreamed of and more; being Chapter President has been one of the greatest honors of my life.  I could not imagine a more genuine, dedicated, hilarious, intelligent, and caring group of women, and I hope our website gives you a glimpse at why we are so happy to call each other sisters and Alpha Phi our home.

Loyally in Alpha Phi,

Carly Burkhardt

“Alpha Phi had a tremendous impact on my college experience and my later career. From an APhi sister who prompted me to change my major to marketing, to the encouraged campus organizational involvement that expanded my network, I wouldn't have had the internships or first job offers I did without Alpha Phi. Coming from a small farm town, my ability to navigate the university, let alone the corporate world, was shaky at best. With APhi I not only gained confidence, but also a network and support structure across the country. Today I lead a large sales and marketing organization for Verizon, and I know I'd not have had the success I've had without Alpha Phi.”
“Coming from Minnesota freshman year, I didn’t know anyone at UNL except for a couple people. I was so nervous about going through recruitment, making friends, fitting in, and not to mention starting college classes. To say I was terrified wouldn’t even begin to cover it. After going through recruitment and joining Alpha Phi, all of this turned around almost immediately. I had found a support system of 100+ girls and a home away from home. Throughout freshman year, my friendships only grew stronger and stronger and I only fell more in love with Alpha Phi and everything about it."

"Alpha Phi is home to the greatest women I have ever known. Beauty truly resonates through every curve of this big, white house."
“There is no possible way that I would be where I am today without the love and support of my Alpha Phi sisters. I am currently a Print Designer for a women’s clothing line called “Jude Connally” in the NYC area. At UNL I studied Textiles and Apparel Design, which helped create my love for CAD and print design. With numerous all night projects ,tight deadlines and countless searches for the perfect internship, I would not have been able to get through the “impossible” without my Alpha Phi sisters by my side.”
